Recipe
- 1/2 cup honey (avoid honeycomb, raw, or unfiltered types)
- 2 oz Gerber or Parent's Choice Mixed Fruit Juice (Tropicana Island Punch or Dole Pineapple Orange Banana can be substituted)
- 2 oz Dannon Plain Yogurt or Activia Mixed Berry Yogurt
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 1 teaspoon Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitamin Supplement (blue label, do not substitute)
- 2 teaspoons Rep-Cal Calcium Supplement non-phosphorus with Vitamin D3 (pink label, do not substitute)
- 2 jars (2½ oz each) Stage 1 or 2 chicken baby food (Chicken & Chicken Gravy or Chicken with Broth)
- 1 egg (hard-boiled, no shell)
- 1/4 cup apple juice (regular bottled, not frozen or baby juice)
- 1/2 cup dry baby cereal (Heinz or Gerber Rice or Oatmeal)
Feeding
For each glider, serve daily:
- 1 tablespoon BML basic mix
- 1 tablespoon diced fruits
- 1 tablespoon diced vegetables
Preparation
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine honey and mixed fruit juice. Add yogurt and blend until smooth.
- Add Supplements: Incorporate wheat germ, Rep-Cal Herptivite, and Rep-Cal Calcium supplement. Blend well.
- Add Protein: Add chicken baby food and hard-boiled egg. Blend until the mixture is consistent.
- Add Juice and Cereal: Alternately add apple juice and dry baby cereal, blending well after each addition until smooth.
- Freeze Mixture: Blend the entire mixture for about 5 minutes until thoroughly combined. Pour into Tupperware bowls or ice cube trays and freeze.
Notes
- Feed insects in the morning as a snack.
- Avoid seeds of apples and pits of cherries.
- Use fresh or frozen fruits, not canned.
- Do not mix fruits and vegetables into the BML mix before freezing.
