    Sugar Glider Colony Management

Sugar gliders live in groups, and much of their care is group-level: one cage, one diet, one cleaning schedule, one water source — with individual animals inside it.

    Colonies, not just pets

Glider Tome is built around colonies. A colony holds the shared facts — the cage, the diet being fed, the water source, the cleaning history — and each glider belongs to a colony. That mirrors how care actually happens, and it stops you re-entering the same diet change once per animal.

    What a colony record holds

    • Cage and setupthe enclosure in use, with cleaning logs over time.
    • Dietthe diet currently fed, plus a dated history of every change.
    • Watersource and type, change logs, and optional reminders.
    • Membersthe gliders housed there, including arrivals and moves between colonies.
    • Colony notesversioned notes for observations that apply to the group.
    • Historydiet changes, transfers, and treatment courses, kept in one timeline.

    Moving gliders between colonies

Introductions, splits, and rehousing are normal. When a glider moves, the move is recorded as an event, and the animal keeps its own complete history — weights, health logs, and medications travel with the glider, not the cage.

    Diet changes as events

Changing a colony’s diet is recorded with a date, so months later you can see exactly when the switch happened rather than guessing. Diet notes let you keep the reasoning alongside the change.

The recommended community diets are documented publicly in the care resources, with recipes, feeding amounts, and preparation.

    Shared care

Two people often share responsibility for the same colony. An optional partner account lets a second person log care, with each entry attributed to whoever made it — useful for households, and essential for rescues handing over animals.
