    Sugar Glider Weight Tracking

Weight is the earliest, cheapest signal you have. Glider Tome records weights in grams with optional context and turns them into a trend you can actually read.

Why weigh a sugar glider regularly

An adult sugar glider is a small animal, so a change that looks trivial in absolute terms can be a large proportion of body mass. A steady downward drift over several weeks is one of the first observable signs that something has changed — diet, dentition, dominance at the food bowl, illness, or pouch activity.

Single weights answer very little. A series of weights, taken in a reasonably consistent way, answers a great deal.

    Weighing consistently

    • Same scalea digital kitchen scale reading to 1 g is enough; keep using the same one.
    • Same point in the cyclegliders are nocturnal, and weight shifts around feeding. Weighing at a similar point each time makes the trend cleaner.
    • A container they will sit ina bonding pouch or bowl tared to zero saves a lot of chasing.
    • Regular, not obsessiveweekly is plenty for a healthy adult; daily makes sense during illness, medication, or recovery.

    Context, not just numbers

Glider Tome lets you attach optional context to any weight — for example whether it was taken before or after feeding, and the exact time if that matters. Context is entirely optional and off by default; when you use it, the trend chart can separate contexts so a post-feed weight is not compared against a pre-feed one.

The chart has a standard view (every weight together) and a context view (weights differentiated by the context you recorded), so you choose how much detail you want to look at.

    Trends across a colony

Weights roll up per glider and across colonies, so you can see a whole colony’s trends on one chart. Where several animals are named alike, the colony name is appended so lines stay distinguishable.

    Reading a change

A weight record does not diagnose anything. What it does is tell you when to look harder and give an exotics vet a real timeline: when the change began, how fast it moved, what else was logged around it. If you see a sustained drop, a sudden loss, or a decline alongside behaviour changes, contact a vet experienced with sugar gliders.

See how weights sit alongside health and medication records.
